Budget Will Support Industry Transformation And Job Creation
Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat said on Tuesday (February 5) that the upcoming Budget will focus on keeping Singapore safe and ensuring its industries can continue to transform and create jobs.
This includes “enabling our workers to learn new skills to upgrade, in particular enabling our companies to build deep capabilities so that they can stand to be more competitive in the coming years,” he said.
Despite an uncertain global economic environment and expected slowdown, Mr Heng said we must “continue our transformation and remain optimistic that we will continue to make good progress”.
Having good long-term growth when it comes to jobs, he said, will help transform the Singapore economy amidst these economic headwinds.
He added that he remains upbeat about the nation’s prospects this year.
Mr Heng also said that during the Budget speech, that he will announce details of the Merdeka Generation Package, which will help Singaporeans born in the 1950s cope with their healthcare needs.
