Good News! Train Services Extended For New Year’s Eve Countdown Celebration
Partygoers heading downtown can now get home safely via public transport this New Year’s Eve.
Transport operator SBS Transit has just announced changes in operational hours for train and selected bus services on 31 December 2018.
The notice posted on the company’s website outlined the extended operating hours of its bus and train services on New Year’s Eve which falls on next Monday.
“SBS Transit will be extending the operational hours of the North East Line (NEL) and the Downtown Line (DTL) as well as 26 selected bus services on New Year’s eve, 31 December 2018.
“This is to enable merry-makers attending countdown celebrations to get home on public transport. It will also be making changes to the evening schedules of 12 bus services operating between the city/business district and the heartlands.”
The North East Line (NEL) and the Downtown Line (DTL) will extend services by two hours while the Sengkang and Punggol LRTs will also run until after the last NEL train arrives at Sengkang and Punggol, Channel News Asia reports.
Meanwhile, the nearest station to the Marina Bay Singapore Countdown site, Bayfront Station, will have the last train leaving at 2.17am (on Jan 1) towards Expo Station and at 2.27am towards Bukit Panjang on the Downtown Line.
The news daily also quoted train and bus operator SMRT as stating that train services on the East-West Line, North-South Line, Circle Line as well as the Bukit Panjang LRT will also be extended while the operating hours of at least 26 SBS Transit bus services and 13 SMRT bus services will also be extended to complement the train services.
