Singaporeans Plan To Spend An Average Of S$123 On Valentine’s This Year
A survey of 1,041 Singaporeans found that respondents were planning to spend an average of S$123 on a present for Valentine’s Day.
The survey, conducted by market research company YouGov, found that 81% those celebrating planned to give a gift. 56% of respondents planned to buy gifts via credit card, 23% by cash and 19% via debit card.
63% of Singaporeans in relationships intend to celebrate Valentine’s Day, compared to only 37% of married couples who will.
Younger people are more likely to celebrate Feburary 14, with 40% of those aged 18 to 34 planning to do something special, compared to just 24% of those aged 55 and over.
Another factor that influences whether or not Singaporeans celebrate Valentine’s is how long they have been with their partner. 76% of new couples (less than a year) planned to celebrate. This proportion becomes smaller the longer the relationship is.
